Broome Families Gathering, 9th June 2012

Local Jabirr Jabirr woman Mitch Torres addresses the crowd in Broome

A crowd of approximately 1000 people gathered at the Nicholas Emo Centre in Broome today in a peaceful show of love for Broome.

Jabirr Jabirr woman Mitch Torres and representatives from old Broome families, including musicians Steve and Alan Pigram, lead the crowd in a demonstation of support for Broome’s heart and soul, which is under “creeping stress” from the development proposal for a gas processing facility at James Price Point to the north of Broome.

Signatures were collected and the crowd gathered for a group photograph to be sent to the Premier, Colin Barnett, industry leaders and media.
