Flight over the Fitzroy Floodplain

I’ve just returned from a fantastic chopper flight from Broome across to the Grant’s Range, near Looma, and then down the Fitzroy River, which we followed to Willare Bridge, and back across the Fitzroy Floodplain back to Broome.

The waters of the Fitzroy were lapping at the bridge, about 3m below, and the river is still rising.  We’ve been watching the live feed on the Beaureau of Meteorology site; at this stage the river is heading towards 8.8m, at which point it will be classified as a moderate flood level. Will post images once they’re uploaded.
